Goals | The aim of this course is to teach students the establishment and planning of forest nurseries, producing of bare-root and container growing stock for forest trees and ornamental plant. |
Course Content | Selection, layout and formation of a nursery (site selection, layout of nursery, establishing a new nursery) Nursery soils. Bareroot nurseries. Planning of production, records, sale of plants, quality of plants, name and ages of plants. Irrigation systems. Soil cultivation in nurseries. Seed sources. Production by seed. Production of bare-root stock. Transplanting. Cultural treatments. Growing media. Production of container growing plants. Cultural treatments. Counting, lifting, grading, storage and transport of seedlings. Vegetative production. Fog systems. Fertigation. Greenhouses. |
