Goals To inform prospective teachers about how to teach basic concepts about geometry and measurement. Arranging course content for geometry and measurement issues, preparing appropriate teaching material, informing about using appropriate teaching strategies. Informing prospective teachers about student difficulties, misconceptions and reasons.
Course Content Van Hiele thinking levels; basic geometric concepts, geometric structures, geometric bodies; parity and similarity; transformation geometry, projections, patterns and ornaments, fractas; Pythagoras theorem; the nature of measurement, time, length, area, volume and angle measurement issues (organizing the course content - using appropriate teaching materials and strategies, etc.); Students' knowledge of these issues (understanding and interpreting student thinking about concepts; knowing student difficulties, mistakes, misconceptions and reasons); the relationship of these issues with daily life and other lessons.
