Goals The aim of this course is, to teach the basic principles of special education, to advance students? Knowledge about individuals with special needs, to inform students about the factors causing disability, to inform students about the different diagnostic groups, to inform students about the developmental support programs which should be applied in the field of special education.
Course Content Basic concepts of special education; principles and historical development of special education; legal regulations on special education; diagnosis and evaluation in special education; individualization of teaching; mainstreaming and support special education services; participation of the family in education and cooperation with the family; characteristics of different disability and ability groups; educational approaches and teaching strategies for different groups; effective strategies and behavior management in classroom management.
Learning Outcomes - Discuss developmental needs of children with special needs with various diagnosis
- Explain needs of children with various diagnostics categories
- Elaborate on diagnosis, care, education and treatment of children with special needs with various diagnosis
- Name ways in which he/she can contribute to the diagnosis, education and treatment of these children within the boundaries of his/her respective field
