Goals The aim of this course is to provide students with a comprehensive understanding of the legal framework of labor relations and the fundamental principles of the social security system. It seeks to equip students with knowledge of employment relationships, employment contracts, working conditions, trade unions, and collective bargaining law. Furthermore, the course aims to develop students’ ability to analyze fundamental disputes in labor and social security law and to propose legally sound solutions.
Course Content This course examines the emergence and historical development of labor law, followed by an analysis of the history, institutionalization, fundamental principles, and sources of Turkish labor law. It further explores the structure and organization of working life and introduces the fundamental concepts of individual labor law. The scope of application of labor law, as well as the elements, types, and formation of employment contracts, are analyzed in detail. The course also addresses the obligations of employees and employers, along with the termination of employment contracts. Additionally, the regulation of working and rest periods is examined. In the later stages, the course covers trade unions and collective bargaining law. Finally, it evaluates social security policies, their reflections in Turkish law, and the functioning of the social insurance system.
