Goals | To explain definition, objective, scope of Foret Management and its relations to the other branches of science of forestry, to introduce forest, the forest ecosystem and benefits and functions of forests, to assess forest structures from functional aspects by providing information about forest structures, to introduce forestry and forest enterprises, to inform about objectives, principles, planning systems and criterions in forestry, to explain the basic concepts applied for the establishment of infrastructure and regulation of utilization in forest enterprises |
Course Content | A. Forest management concept, its contents, relationships with other disciplines, historical developments, planning systems, approaches, techniques and processes at national and international scale B. Sustainable forest management and green certification C. Forest resource values, management objectives, conservation targets, forest forms and values, and planning approaches D. Forest values, description, criteria and indicators as well as silvicultural interventions to be applied for each forest values E. Plan and planning concepts F. Forest inventory and stratification, setting a plot, measuring trees for inventory, observing forest values, determining stand types and site index, management units, compartments and sub-compartments, creating all relevant maps, use of empirical yield tables, growth and yield for wood production, water production, NWFP, soil protection, carbon balance, O2 level, ecotourism value G. Use of decision making techniques in forest management planning |
