Week Topics/Applications Method
1. Week General features of forest roads. Concepts about forest roads. Duties of forest roads. Evaluation of forest roads in terms of forestry.
2. Week Basic principals in terms of planning forest roads. Road-vehicles relationship. Concept of slope on forest road. Slope value applied on forest roads. reverse slope and dever.
3. Week Curve, lase and slope on forest roads. Road width, cposs-slope, and road width of curves, importance and application on forest roads.
4. Week Plan and project of forest roads on topographical maps. Basic concepts about contour maps. Map and scale. General features of contour lines.
5. Week Basic principals about determining of forest road alignments. Drawing zero polygon on contour maps. Orienting zero polygon, locating curves and/ or lases
6. Week Measurement of alignment and drawing of lengthwise profile. Placing vertical curve on horizontal profile.
7. Week Drawing cross section. Placing art work ,such as cement pipe, culvert, road furrow on cross sections.
8. Week Midterm exam
9. Week Determining cross section, area and mass. Creating of material table
10. Week Materials distribution profile. Drawing of material distribution profile and balancing. Drawing material distribution table. Determining road construction expenditure by drawing assessment table. Forming technical report.
11. Week Land study and application of forest roads.
12. Week Application and rules about road construction in Turkey. Road construction machines, its features, aim of use, and way of use.
13. Week Precautions that should be considered during the construction of road. Methods of excavation and filling.
