| Goals | This course aims to plan, conduct and report various experiments based on different laboratory approaches appropriate to the nature of biology subjects included in the 5th and 8th grade middle school Science course curriculum; to develop experimentation skills with simple and cheap materials; to include activities that will reveal the importance of scientific process skills in experiments; to demonstrate alternative approaches that evaluate student performance in experiments. It is aimed to develop teacher candidates' skills in using a microscope and preparing plant and animal preparations. |
| Course Content | Laboratory safety precautions, introduction of basic materials, introduction and use of microscope, techniques for preparing preparations. Plant and invertebrate animal identification, examination of cell structure. Observation of osmosis and diffusion events, examination and comparison of plant and animal cells. Examination of cell division and its stages. Examination of plant tissues. Examination of parts of flowering plants. DNA isolation. |
