Goals To gain knowledge and skills about the processes of designing, conducting, presenting and publishing scientific research; to teach the ethical principles to be followed in scientific research process
Course Content Science and related concepts (science, theory, law, rule, principle, system, argument, assumption, hypothesis, method), Ethical principles in science, Ethical rules for research and publication, Unethical behaviours and ethical violations in the research and publication process, Evaluation of legal legislation related to research and publication ethics, Scientific information sources, databases and ways of accessing information, Scientific research methods, Planning a scientific publication: Parts of the publication: Title, Authors, Abstract, Introduction, Sections of the scientific publication: Methods and Results, Discussion, Bibliography, Acknowledgements, Appendices, Sections of the scientific publication: Citing literature and design a References section, Table and graph preparation, Preparation of scientific poster and oral presentation, Publication process: journal selection, correspondence and publication
Learning Outcomes - know the purpose, scope and content characteristics of different types of scientific publications such as articles, papers, books.
- gain ability to organise the scientific study in accordance with the main sections and sub-sections and prepare it for publication.
- gain ability to use knowledge and software related to the preparation of tables, graphics, etc. required in a scientific publication.
- gain ability to search, select and cite the relevant literature for scientific publication, and can use current softwares to design "References" section.
- know and adopt the ethical rules that should be considered in preparing scientific publications.
- know the processes of submitting, responding to referees, revision, resubmission and printing processes that take place after preparing scientific publications and acts in accordance with these processes.
- gain the ability to prepare and fluently present their work in scientific meetings in current presentation formats
