Goals To teach importance and impacts of non-native species in aquatic ecosystems and their management, to provive information about transport vectors and pathways for non-native species
Course Content An introduction to invasion ecology and an overview on biological invasion in aquatic ecosystems, Patterns, vectors and pathways of invasion, Distribution of non-native aquatic species in Turkey: Invertebrates, Distribution of non-native aquatic species in Turkey: Fishes, Distribution of non-native aquatic species in Turkey: Amphibians, reptiles, birds and mammals, Ecological traits of aquatic invaders, Establishment success of non-native species in aquatic environments, influence of biotic interactions, Ecological processes and spread of non-native species, Ecological impacts of non-native species, Evolution of invaders, Prediction and risk assessment of non-native invasive species, Management of non-native species invasion
Learning Outcomes - Know transport vectors and pathways for non-native species
- Comprehend biological invasions and its stages in aquatic environments
- Comprehend non-native species invasions and the relationships between species diversity, community saturation and ecosystem functioning
- Know impacts of non-native invasive species in aquatic ecosystms
