Goals The purpose of this lecture is to get knowledge about the structure and general properties of the cell, transportation of materials through cell membrane, the basic genetic mechanisms in the cell, RNA and protein synthesis, DNA replication, recombinant DNA technology, the cell nucleus and its properties, control of gene expression.
Course Content The structure and general properties of the cell, The organnels of the cell and their structures and functions, Transportation of materials through cell membrane, Functional systems in the cell, movement of the cells, Chromosomes found in nucleus of the cell and their conjugation, Types of RNA and their functions, the transfer of the codes of DNA to RNA, Gene expression, the control of gene expression, Protien synthesis, Mitosis and meiosis, The control of cell growth and proliferation, Signal transduction pathways in cells, cell differentiation, Apoptosis and necrosis, Cancer
Learning Outcomes - To get knowledge about the structure and general properties of the cell.
- To understand the ways of the transportation of materials through cell membrane.
- To learn the basic genetic mechanisms in the cell. To get knowledge about the synthesis of RNA and proteins, DNA replication and the control of gene expression.
- To learn the signal transduction pathways inside cells.
