Goals The main goal of the course is to enable the students to follow their departmental courses, to access and effectively use all kinds of resources related to their academic studies and to use English in their professional lives by communicating in written and oral contexts. The SFL also aims at equipping each student with language skills that will enable him/her to carry out tasks in English effectively. While achieving these aims, it is aimed to educate the students in such a manner that they become constructive, creative, knowledgeable, intellectual individuals who are open to new ideas and aware of ethical and cultural values.
Course Content English 101 course aims at developing language awareness through an integrated syllabus that focuses on the key grammar, skills, communication and pronunciation essential to the freshmen students at A2 level of proficiency. This course also focuses on building confidence in working in English with effective communication strategies for workplace situations and academic contexts.
Learning Outcomes - - The students will have shaped the basic grammar, vocabulary and three skills of English (reading, listening, speaking) knowledge in accordance with beginner level.
- - The students will have been aware of how to reach the knowledge of English through various sources.
- - The students will have utilized the basic English skills they have acquired in daily occasions, academic studies and business life.
- - The students will have expressed themselves efficiently in both written and oral ways.
- - They will have raised awareness towards different cultures and embrace the differences while learning about their cultures in the course time.
- - The students will have had a chance to exploit the skills while following the news about the World or the developments in academic areas and they will have expressed themselves and give out their ideas effectively using English.
- - The students will have adopted an embracing attitude towards the foreign cultures and will have internalized a respectful and democratic life style.
