Goals The aim of this course is to teach students the importance and functions, fundamental principles, techniques, and application of afforestation studies in practices
Course Content The methods of afforestation with other forest ecosystem rehabilitation techniques by seeding and planting.
Learning Outcomes - Learn the place and role of afforestation in forestry practices
- Explain seed sources, seed transfer, and provenance & species trials in forest tree species
- Site examination, species/provenance selection, seedling material procurement
- Site preparation before sowing and planting
- Afforestation by direct seeding or planting, determining the spacing in plantings
- Applying the cultural treatments after plantation establishment
- Afforestation of disturbed lands
- Design and layout of afforestation projects
- Put in use knowledge/skill acquired during the course in afforestation practice effectively

Week Seed resources (seed stands and seed orchards), seed transfer and seed transfer zones for common tree species (Pinus brutia, Pinus nigra, Pinus sylvestris, Cedrus libani, Picea orientalis, Fagus orientalis), seed and cone collection, handling and storage, pretreatments Verbal Expression Visual Presentation
