Goals Students will be skillful in designing of surface irrigation systems.
Course Content Introduction to surface irrigation systems, Land preparation for irrigation: Land leveling Land leveling, Infiltration characteristics of soil and net infiltration time, Design of uncontrolled flooding and basin irrigation systems, Overview, Design of border irrigation systems, Design of furrow irrigation systems, Measurement of entering and exiting the water furrow, Project sample.
Learning Outcomes - To use the methods of land leveling project in land preparation for irrigation
- To apply knowledge of basic engineering taken from other courses
- To choose the most appropriate method of surface irrigation
- To size the system components and to design the irrigation system required by the selected surface irrigation method
- To design the furrow irrigation method
- To design border irrigation method
- To design long border irrigation method
- Application of irrigation methods in the field.
