Goals Purpose of this course is to comprehend the basic concepts and facts related to Geology; general information about Earth; earth´s crust forming materials; tectonic movements in the Earth; soil formation; the concept of stratigraphy and general features of geological times.
Course Content Description and divisions of Geology. General knowledge related to the Earth. The Earth's shape and measurements. The Earth?s motions. The Earth?s geosphers. Interior temperature of The Earth. Gravitation and izostazi. The Earth?s minerals. Definition of mineral, mineral properties. Description and general properties of The Earth's rocks. The rock cycle, igneous rock composition and classification. Metamorphism. Origin and composition of metamorphic rocks. Sedimentary rocks' features. Products of weathering. Soil forming. The soil types. Tectonics movements. Internal forces. Orogenic and epirogenic movements. Faults. Earthquakes. Plate tectonics theory. Volcanism. General principals of stratigrafy. The Earth's age. Geologic Times.
