Goals To contribute to the understanding of the physical and chemical functioning of forest fire, the types of forest fires, forest fire behavior, Forest fire fighting methods and techniques and the implementation of forestry activities. To help and guide the use of human resources in fighting forest fires. To provide support to planners and implementers in the conservation and use of forest resources.
Course Content Fire event, combustion phases, heat transfer methods, Forest fire, forest fire types, forest fire behavior, The effects of forest fuels, fire weather and topography on fire behavior, Fundamentals of forest fire fighting, Organization and communication in forest fire fighting, Direct and indirect forest fire fighting methods, Forest fire fighting methods for different forest fires, Personal protective equipment’s and hand tools in forest fire fighting , Use of hand tools in forest fire fighting, Use of motor vehicles and equipment in forest fire fighting, Forest fire fighting in the World, Occupational health and safety in forest fires fighting, Technical and administrative works in during and after a forest fire
Learning Outcomes - Knowledge of combustion phenomena, combustion cycles, heat transfer methods and get general knowledge about forest fire.
- Learning of forest fire behavior and forest fire types.
- - Get knowledge about the effects of topography, weather conditions and flammable materials on forest fire behavior
- Having knowledge about the basic principles of fighting with forest fires
- Get knowledge about organization and communication issues in fighting with forest fires
- To have theoretical and technical knowledge about direct and indirect fighting methods with forest fires
- Use of hand tools and equipments used to extinguish forest fires
- Having knowledge about the motor vehicles used in forest fire extinguishment and the technical features and usage of these vehicles,
- Learning about forest fire worker safety and occupational health issues
- Having general knowledge about technical and administrative works to be done during and after a forest fire
