Goals Dersin amacı öğrencilere fidanlıkların tesisi ve planlaması, orman ağacı ve süs bitkilerinin çıplak köklü ve kaplı fidanlarının yetiştirilmesi ve fidan sınıflamasını öğretmektir.
Course Content Introduction, market prospects, nursery site, size of nursery, planning production, records, sale of plants, quality of plants (genetic quality, morphological traits, physiological traits), name and ages of plants , Selection, layout and formation of a nursery (site selection, layout of nursery, establishing a new nursery), Nursery soils (physical traits, chemical traits, soil analyses), Seed (seed origin, procurement of seed, seed collection and handling, seed storage, seed testing, seed dormancy and pretreatments, sowing…), Seed sources, identification of tree species seeds, determining the various seed properties (weight, moisture content, purity, viability), pretreatments, Production of bare-root stock (preparing the seedbed, seed pretreatments, sowing time and density, sowing methods, …), transplanting (age, spacing, time, …), Production of container growing plants (container types, facilities, growing media, …), Cultural treatments (weed control, hoeing, cultivating, irrigation, fertilization, …), Nursery practice about cultural treatments , Counting, lifting, grading, storage and transport of seedlings, Vegetative propagation (propagation by cutting and grafting) , Vegetative propagation, Seedling classification, classification according to the various morphological seedling traits
