Goals To help the students recognize, describe, and explain certain grammatical aspects of English and to compare and contrast these with those of Turkish in order to point out the difficulties that a native speaker of Turkish might encounter while learning English.
Course Content The relationship between language structures and lexical items, the attribution of meaning by means of these structures, analysis of language structures within the framework of a context so as to establish relations between form and text type, production of advanced level texts synthesizing these structures.
Learning Outcomes - Students will recognize and distinguish the different types of verbs.
- Students will be able to define and defining situations in English and Turkish.
- Students will recognize the concept of tense and aspect.
- Students will use and compare different tenses in English and Turkish
- Students will define, explain and express subjunctives in English and Turkish.
