Goals The aim of this course is to enable EFL pre-service language teacher students to develop advanced writing skills and to think critically and function effectively in their academic programs. While they acquire composition skills at the essay level, they will be writing in a variety of rhetorical modes.
Course Content Grammar review, error analysis, review skills, application of grammatical knowledge, writing a cause and/or effect essay, writing an argumentative essay, writing a process analysis essay, writing an opinion essay, gaining the ability to analyze research reports.Activities for developing advanced grammar skills and academic vocabulary
Learning Outcomes - Establish co-operative working relationships with their peers
- Use the steps of the writing process (prewrite, outline, draft, revise, edit)
- Write essays in a variety of rhetorical modes including cause and effect, argumentation, process analysis, and opinion.
- Use instructional technologies in the writing process, including research and documentation
- Revise and edit written work to improve content, organization, word choice, grammar, spelling, and punctuation.
