Graphic Design Program affiliated to the Gölyaka Vocational School of Design Department was established at the undergraduate level in the 2009-2010 academic year and trained technicians in the field of graphic design profession.
Graphic Design reflects the reciprocal interaction of consumer culture and folk culture; As a result of the development of the market economy, it is used as the most important means of constructing a whole message that eliminates the communication gap that arises especially among producers and consumers. It is determined by means of effective promotion of the products that we are in the internet in the newspapers, televisions and the internet by means of all kinds of mass communication. This requires that many design criteria and graphic principles be known and used, from appropriate target audience selection to customer requests, from selected slogans to selected visuals, to the color-created composition used.
This program is designed to develop the creative qualities of our students and to specialize in graphic design in the fields of print media and digital design. Knowledge and skills, including basic sciences, special professional knowledge skills as well as communication, use of technology, using the knowledge and skills gained in the field of production and marketing them, aims to educate individuals who can produce quality service required by the sector, responsible for the quality of work.
Our mission is to contribute to the qualified, educated human power of our country, which is the necessity of advertising sector, and to educate students who can make original designs in informed and sectoral working environments.
It is our aim to graduate our students as graphic designers with a high level of application skills who can be immediately employed in national and international institutions and organizations.
Students who successfully complete the programme will be awarded an Associate Degree in Graphic Design.

[] Admission Requirements
The admissions of students to the programs are made according to the Student Selection and Placement Center (OSYM – University entrance exam) within the framework set by the regulations of Higher Education Council (HEC). After students inform the Student Selection and Placement Center about what programs they want to study at, students are placed in the related programs according to their scores they got from the exam. Graduates of related vocational high schools can enroll in the department within the framework set by the regulations of Higher Education Council (HEC).
Foreign students are admitted to the related programs with the scores of internationally acceptable exams such as SAT, ACT or are admitted to the related programs with their high school graduation grades (Undergraduate and Graduate Programs for Foreign Students Admission Guidelines).
The admission of students of General Academic Exchange Protocol to the related programs are done within the framework of the bilateral agreements (ERASMUS, FARABI, etc) signed between Duzce University and the partner universities. Guest students may enroll into the courses in this program, if the related academic unit approves. Sufficient language knowledge is required to monitor the program.
[] Course's Contrubution To Program
To complete the available courses in the program (a total of 120 ECTS) successfully, the students have to get at least 50 points out of 100 and required to achieve 2.00 on a 4.00 weighted grade point average. To graduate from the programs students should get at least DD in all of the courses provided.Students are also required to complete the compulsory practice in the specified time.
[] Recognition of Prior Learning
Students enrolled in DU might be exempted from certain courses within the framework of certain regulations. A student can be exempted from a certain course provided related course content previously received from another institution complies with that of DU, which is subject to approval and verification by the Board of faculty/graduate school/school.
Recognition of Education Abroad
DU recognises academic terms and courses studied by a student that has been involved in an exchange programme for one or two terms at the universities with which a partnership was established.
Students that are selected to avail themselves of Student Mobility for Studies under ERASMUS are obliged to draw up an education agreement with relevant ERASMUS Unit Coordination prior to the mobility term. The education agreement demonstrates the courses to be studied at the partner university the student intends to go, as well as appropriate ECTS credits.
In addition to this, students shall be asked to issue a Recognition Sheet, which refers to the equivalent of foreign courses in DU, so that the credit transfer is planned and approved.
At the end of the exchange term, the courses studied abroad are recorded and demonstrated in the transcript, together with the original course codes and names and ECTS credits. Pursuant to ERASMUS Programme and Collaboration Agreements concluded thereunto, official transcripts will quote, an abbreviation signal of ET, European Transfer, for the courses studied abroad.

Graphic Design, which will provide education in the field of Gölyaka Vocational School, aims to train intermediate staff to be employed in companies that have problems in opening up the market,
Graphic Design is a visual communication art. The work of a graphic designer is to organize visual elements such as letters, numbers, figures and pictures and transmit messages to masses. Logos, posters, billboards, packages, books, magazines and similar products are designed to communicate. The current ideals were taken into consideration while the content of the program was being prepared. In order to meet the ever-changing demands of society, the lessons are planned to be social, cultural and artistic.
Students need to be involved in different branches of design such as illustration, photography, typography and printing, as well as social sciences such as sociology and psychology.

[] Professional Profile of Graduates
Students graduated from the Graphic Design associate degree program can take the title of "Graphic Designer" or "Graphic Technician" with the lessons they have taken during their 2 years of education. Program graduates can make their own initiatives; medium and large-scale printing and publishing companies, graphic design studios, advertising agencies, the media sector, public and private sector organizations that have an introductory unit within them.
[] The Upper Stage of a Transition
According to the "Implementing Regulation on the Continuation of Undergraduate Education of Vocational Schools Graduates" published in the Official Gazette dated 19.02.2002 and numbered 24676 and the application principles determined by the Council of Higher Education on the transition to undergraduate education and examinations and placement related to the graduation of successful students graduating from Vocational Schools operations are carried out by ÖSYM.
Graduates of the Graphic Design Associate Degree Program are able to make a vertical transition to the related undergraduate programs in order to bring their vocational education to the top level.

The program applies a training plan to train graphic designers who can work in the field of visual communication. The art and design theories required for this include compulsory courses on computer aided design, typography, photography, pattern, printing techniques, illustration, graphic production technologies and publishing knowledge. The program also offers elective courses for students' differences in ability and interest. The training period is 2 years, the training language is Türkçedir.

[] Graduation Requirements
In order to graduate from the Graphic Design Program, the total number of national credits that students must complete is 98, in total 20 elective courses. The total amount of ECTS credits is 30 for each semester. The duration of the Graphic Design Program is 2 years.
The student who has successfully completed all the courses listed in the curriculum and has completed all the activities covered by this Regulation and other applicable legislation. Also, the graduate student must have successfully completed 30 days of internship in the industry. The internship has not been credited with the program as it is a prerequisite for graduation. AGNOs must be at least 2.00 level and all other studies must be completed.
