The mission of the Geriatric Care Program is to train geriatric care technicians who protect and improve the health of elderly individuals, support their care, treatment, and rehabilitation processes, adhere to ethical principles, possess a developed sense of professional responsibility, and adopt evidence-based practices.
The vision of the Geriatric Care Program is to be a nationally and internationally preferred associate degree program that enhances the importance of education in the field of geriatric health and care, supports interdisciplinary collaboration, and produces graduates who can provide creative, safe, and high-quality services.
The admissions of students to the programs are made according to the Student Selection and Placement Center (OSYM – University entrance exam) within the framework set by the regulations of Higher Education Council (HEC). After students inform the Student Selection and Placement Center about what programs they want to study at, students are placed in the related programs according to their scores they got from the exam.
Foreign students are admitted to the related programs with the scores of internationally acceptable exams such as SAT, ACT or are admitted to the related programs with their high school graduation grades (Undergraduate and Graduate Programs for Foreign Students Admission Guidelines).
The admission of students of General Academic Exchange Protocol to the related programs are done within the framework of the bilateral agreements (ERASMUS, FARABI, etc) signed between Duzce University and the partner universities. Guest students may enroll into the courses in this program, if the related academic unit approves. Sufficient language knowledge is required to monitor the program.
The aim is to train geriatric care technicians who can provide health-promoting, preventive, therapeutic, and rehabilitative care to the elderly, adhering to evidence-based practices. Graduates of this program, who are competent healthcare technicians with the skills to implement and improve geriatric care services, will receive an "Associate Degree in Geriatric Care." Graduates can find employment in public and private sector hospitals, social services institutions, nursing homes, elderly care homes, homes for the infirm, and day centers for the elderly. Graduates also have the opportunity to complete their bachelor's degree by taking a vertical transfer exam in accordance with relevant legislation.
PEA1. To train healthcare technicians who can work in services related to the health, care, rehabilitation, and protection of elderly individuals, possessing fundamental knowledge and skills specific to the field of geriatric care.
PEA2. To provide professional competence enabling individuals to assess the physical, psychological, and social needs of elderly individuals in accordance with scientific, ethical, and professional principles; and to plan and implement care and support practices.
PEA3. To train geriatric care technicians who aim to improve the quality of life of elderly individuals, respect human rights and ethical values, and have a developed sense of professional responsibility.
PEA4. To train individuals who follow scientific, technological, and social developments in the field of geriatric health; embrace lifelong learning; can think critically; and have a developed sense of social responsibility.

355Graduates of the Elderly Care Program can find employment in public and private hospitals, nursing homes and elderly care centers affiliated with the Ministry of Family and Social Services, private nursing homes and elderly care facilities, organizations providing home care services, rehabilitation and palliative care centers, and day care and living centers for the elderly.
Students continue their graduate education with DGS exam. They complete license program in Elder Care Nutrition and Dietetics , Physiotherapy and Rehabilitation, Nursing, Nursing and Health Services degree programs.
To graduate from the Elderly Care Program, students must successfully complete all compulsory and elective courses in the program curriculum, accumulate a total of 120 ECTS credits, and maintain a minimum GPA of 2.00/4.00. Successful completion of a 30-day summer internship is also mandatory. Students who meet these requirements receive an "Associate Degree in Elderly Care" and graduates earn the title of "Health Technician".
