[] About Program

Forestry and Forest Products Program has started education in the form of first education since the 2017-2018 academic year. The department, which had a student quota of 40 in this period, was increased to 50 students in the 2018-2019 academic year.It is located in Konuralp Campus and education is provided in the Forestry Faculty Building.

[] Goals

Forestry, forest products industry and environmental regulation and in areas arising from their interactions; To train intermediate staff equipped with the ability to apply by fulfilling the requirements of the era and technology, to contribute to the development of the relevant sectors and to lead the required associate degree education

[] Objectives

To be a role model in its field with its institutional development and intermediate staff;

* To train technical staff who are equipped with ecological, economic, social and technical issues and can use this information in the sustainable management, conservation and operation of forest resources.

* To train technical staff who are knowledgeable about the maintenance, regeneration and improvement of the existing forests, transforming the inefficient forest areas into productive areas and protecting and maintaining the existing forests.

 * Evaluate the forest as an ecosystem with a scientific understanding,

* Not only wood production but also multi-purpose utilization from forest and forest areas,

* To train technicians who have high communication skills and who are prone to team work

It is envisaged that the students who will graduate will receive the title of “Forest Conservation Officer” within the General Directorate of Forestry. In addition, they can be employed as “Forest Technician” in private sector enterprises where forestry activities are carried out, in factories producing forest products, and in sapling growing firms.

It is a program that provides associate degree education.
[] Admission Requirements
The admissions of students to the programs are made according to the Student Selection and Placement Center (OSYM – University entrance exam) within the framework set by the regulations of Higher Education Council (HEC). After students inform the Student Selection and Placement Center about what programs they want to study at, students are placed in the related programs according to their scores they got from the exam. Graduates of related vocational high schools can enroll in the department within the framework set by the regulations of Higher Education Council (HEC).

Foreign students are admitted to the related programs with the scores of internationally acceptable exams such as SAT, ACT or are admitted to the related programs with their high school graduation grades (Undergraduate and Graduate Programs for Foreign Students Admission Guidelines).

The admission of students of General Academic Exchange Protocol to the related programs are done within the framework of the bilateral agreements (ERASMUS, FARABI, etc) signed between Duzce University and the partner universities. Guest students may enroll into the courses in this program, if the related academic unit approves. Sufficient language knowledge is required to monitor the program.
[] Course's Contrubution To Program
To complete the available courses in the program (a total of 120 ECTS) successfully, the students have to get at least 50 points out of 100 and required to achieve 2.00 on a 4.00 weighted grade point average. To graduate from the programs students should get at least DD in all of the courses provided.Students are also required to complete the compulsory practice in the specified time.
[] Recognition of Prior Learning
Students enrolled in DU might be exempted from certain courses within the framework of certain regulations. A student can be exempted from a certain course provided related course content previously received from another institution complies with that of DU, which is subject to approval and verification by the Board of faculty/graduate school/school.

Recognition of Education Abroad

DU recognises academic terms and courses studied by a student that has been involved in an exchange programme for one or two terms at the universities with which a partnership was established.

Students that are selected to avail themselves of Student Mobility for Studies under ERASMUS are obliged to draw up an education agreement with relevant ERASMUS Unit Coordination prior to the mobility term. The education agreement demonstrates the courses to be studied at the partner university the student intends to go, as well as appropriate ECTS credits.

In addition to this, students shall be asked to issue a Recognition Sheet, which refers to the equivalent of foreign courses in DU, so that the credit transfer is planned and approved.

At the end of the exchange term, the courses studied abroad are recorded and demonstrated in the transcript, together with the original course codes and names and ECTS credits. Pursuant to ERASMUS Programme and Collaboration Agreements concluded thereunto, official transcripts will quote, an abbreviation signal of ET, European Transfer, for the courses studied abroad.

To train technical staff who have basic knowledge in the forestry sector, act in accordance with the legislation in the field, take responsibility as a team member in solving problems, equipped in technical issues, and use the knowledge and skills acquired in sustainable management, ecological, economic and social protection and operation of forest resources.

5 Applying techniques for protecting forest ecosystem and against biotic and abiotic factors

7 Essential knowledge about the administrative and legal structure, policy-making and planning processes, supply-demand relations, socio-economic situation concerning forest resources of national and international

f-They perform technical and administrative duties in institutions such as General Directorate of State Hydraulic Works, General Directorate of Highways, State Planning Organization. They can work as technical staff in the private sector, private forestry offices, landscape firms, private nurseries, other private institutions and factories producing forest products that carry out forestry related works and processes. In addition, they will be able to take part in survey and inventory studies in nature, environment and forestry-based projects that will be held by various non-governmental organizations.


[] The Upper Stage of a Transition
The students of Forestry and Forest Program progra​m can be transferred to the undergraduate programs of "Forestry Engineering","Forest Industry Engineering" and "Woodworking Industrial Engineering" via the External Transfer Examination (DGS).
[] Program Structure
- During 4 semesters, students have to accomplish 122 AKTS credited compulsory and 
selective courses specified in their learning plans and complete their summer internship.
- The program includes the Common Compulsory Courses in the Higher Education Law and English 
other common courses determined by the University Senate,
- Compulsory internship is 30 working days and is worth 5 AKTS in total. 
Students will be able to perform their compulsory internships in the relevant units of the General Directorate of Nature Conservation and National Parks 
of the Ministry of Agricultural and Forestry  and the General Directorate of Forestry, nurseries, forestry offices of private enterprises, 
firms processing forest products. No protocol has been signed with the institutions where internship can be done, and students are informed 
that their internship will be accepted if they apply.
- The Forestry and Forest Products Program (OÜP) students of the Forestry Vocational School improve themselves 
through internship programs prepared to meet the needs of the workplace where they will work, and provide benefits for forestry and industry, 
on the other hand,  by being in forestry and industry practices, developments and working environment like other vocational school students.

[] Graduation Requirements

By following the education shown in the Vocational School curriculum, all courses must be successful according to the principles stated in the relevant regulations and directives, and must have successfully completed the credits and internships required for graduation.

The AKTS credit amount is determined as 30 for each period and 122 in total. The education period in Forestry and Forest Products Program is 2 years. The student who has successfully completed all the courses shown in the curriculum and has completed all the reqirements in this Regulation and other relevant legislative provisions, must also have completed a successful internship in the industry for 30 business days for graduation. AGNOs must be at least 2.00 and have completed all other reqirements.
