Students were accepted to Early Childhood Education program in 2016-2017. Training period at the Department of Early Childhood Education is four years. The education program of our division targets to train preschool teachers with sufficient capacity and talent to train the future generations in accordance with the needs and requirements of both our country and our era. In addition to reinforcing the occupational knowledge and experiences of students, our division also attaches importance to directing them to sport, art, communication and culture activities supporting their personal development and improving their creativity and social relations.
[] Goals

The mission of our programme, in accordance with the regulations of Turkish National Education Basic Law, is to educate teachers qualified enough to be able to work in preschool education, having core knowledge, skill and attitude; Ataturkist, loyal to Republican Principles, and endowed with contemporary and democratic characteristics. What is more, our objective is to provide education programme gaining acceptance among contemporary, national and international Early Childhood Teaching Programmes and to educate the students for successful career. Another one of our mission is to educate graduate students, who are learning to learn lifetime, taking the continuity of development as a base, who carry out their duties effectively, research developments in social domain, financial, technological and scientific fields, serve official and private preschool educational institutions and non-governmental organizations and cooperate with them regularly. Moreover, our objective is to educate teachers having necessary background information and motivation in order to be able to improve themselves to keep up with time, having willingness and competence to be able to transfer the knowledge they acquired to the next generations by making use of all kinds of technological material. Another one of our mission is to educate teachers who are sensitive to the needs of a child, family and society seeking the best, in an endeavour to work in collaboration, who identify the problems and reach their goal. Furthermore, they should be able to raise the quality of early childhood period with the programmes that they develop, educate teachers who carry out national and international researches in an attempt to develop child and family programmes, to improve undergraduate and graduate programmes continually in compliance with social developments and change. In addition, qualified teachers should be able to put forward innovative education concerning the matters such as education of children according to their age and level of development being in harmony with the characteristics of age in which they live, the preparation of instructional programmes, the improvement of the pedagogical knowledge and skills of parents, they should be able to make use of wide range of opportunities concerning research and improvement, by enabling the students to gain active professional leadership skills.

[] Objectives

Our vision is to raise the prestige of the Department of Early Childhood Teaching Programme to the uppermost level both nationally and internationally. Our aim is to be in such a state that is approved and favoured nationally and internationally. Additionally, our vision is to get actively involved in plans concerning extensification and improvement of preschool education and to be supportive of scientific researches. Another one of our visions, as a required by modern and democratic society, is to be a department that educates teachers aspiring to educate mentally and physically healthy teachers who can express their ideas freely, transfer basic life skills to everyday life, who are creative, inquiring, energetic, self-confident, who attach value to divergence and who are respectful of human rights and willing to learn.

Students who successfully complete the programme will be awarded an Bachelor's Degree in Preschool Teaching.

It is a programme that provides undergraduate (first cycle) education.
[] Admission Requirements
The admission of students to the programmes is made according to the Student Selection and Placement Centre (OSYM – University entrance exam) within the framework set by the regulations of Higher Education Council (HEC). After students inform the Student Selection and Placement Centre about what programmes they want to study at, students are placed in the related programmes according to their scores they got from the exam.

Foreign students are admitted to the related programmes with the scores of internationally acceptable exams such as SAT, ACT or are admitted to the related programmes with their high school graduation grades (Undergraduate and Graduate Programmes for Foreign Students Admission Guidelines).

The admission of students of General Academic Exchange Protocol to the related programmes are done within the framework of the bilateral agreements (ERASMUS, FARABI, etc) signed between Duzce University and the partner universities. Guest students may enrol into the courses in this programme, if the related academic unit approves. Sufficient language knowledge is required to monitor the programme.
[] Course's Contrubution To Program
To complete the available courses in the program (a total of 240 ECTS) successfully, the students have to get at least 50 points out of 100 and required to achieve 2.50 on a 4.00 weighted grade point average. To graduate from the programs students should get at least DD in all of the courses provided. Students are also required to complete the compulsory practice in the specified time.
[] Recognition of Prior Learning
Students enrolled in DU might be exempted from certain courses within the framework of certain regulations. A student can be exempted from a certain course provided related course content previously received from another institution complies with that of DU, which is subject to approval and verification by the Board of faculty/graduate school/school.

Recognition of Education Abroad

DU recognises academic terms and courses studied by a student that has been involved in an exchange programme for one or two terms at the universities with which a partnership was established.

Students that are selected to avail themselves of Student Mobility for Studies under ERASMUS are obliged to draw up an education agreement with relevant ERASMUS Unit Coordination prior to the mobility term. The education agreement demonstrates the courses to be studied at the partner university the student intends to go, as well as appropriate ECTS credits.

In addition to this, students shall be asked to issue a Recognition Sheet, which refers to the equivalent of foreign courses in DU, so that the credit transfer is planned and approved.

At the end of the exchange term, the courses studied abroad are recorded and demonstrated in the transcript, together with the original course codes and names and ECTS credits. Pursuant to ERASMUS Programme and Collaboration Agreements concluded thereunto, official transcripts will quote, an abbreviation signal of ET, European Transfer, for the courses studied abroad.

[] Professional Profile of Graduates
Graduate students who are graduated from Preschool Undergraduation Program get undergraduate degree. If they get sufficient score form Public Personnel Selection Examination (KPSS), they can work as a preschool teacher in independent preschools and in elementary schools’ preschool classrooms. Moreover, they can work also in private kindergartens and nursery schools that give education in different approaches and models. If they want to have an academic career, they can continue graduate programs and they work as instructor at universities Preschool Education Departments, also they can make interdisciplinary studies. 
[] The Upper Stage of a Transition
The graduates holding Bachelor’s Degree are eligible to apply to Master’s Degree programmes at national level and /or international level both in the same and in related disciplines.
[] Program Structure
Early Childhood Education Program is a 4-year program following the National Curriculum prepared by the Higher Education Institution. In the program, besides the field courses given about the care, development and education of the preschool child, courses related to the teaching profession and general culture are also provided. In addition, prospective teachers who continue our program can take elective courses both from our Department and from different faculties and colleges in line with their interests and abilities.

[] Graduation Requirements
Students must obtain a grade point average of at least 2.50 out of 4.00 and successfully pass all courses on the programme (equivalent to a total of 240 ECTS).
