Department of Foreign Languages Teaching started to train ELT students at undergraduate level education in the academic year of 2015-2016 registering 40 students. In the unit, the medium of instruction is English. One year of preparatory class is required for those who cannot get a passing grade in the proficiency examination held at the beginning of each academic year. The students who pass the English proficiency test are exempted from the preparatory class and start the freshman classes. The faculty of the department comprises of one associate professor, four assistant professors and one research assistant.
Our department aims to train teacher candidates who have the following competencies:
* to comprehend any speech variety either in live or broadcast coverage,
* to read and understand almost all text types such as field-related articles and literary works with ease from hypothetical, structural/textural and grammatical dimensions,
* to participate all dialogues or deates,
* to comphrehend and use idioms and colloquial expressions,
* to express him/herself fluently,
* to state the nuances in meaning conclusively and accurately,
* to revise his/her expresions when he/she experiences a difficulty in conveying an idea,
* to present explicit and smooth description or opposed views by means of a reasonable contextual framework which helps the listener to differentiate important points,
* to write the abstracts of professional or literary works and critiques with a contextually-appropriate and fluent style,
* to educate teacher trainees who are capable of dealing with the difficulties in their future careers.
The aim of ELT program is to educate qualified English language teachers for primary and secondary schools in our country. Students are provided not only with field knowledge but also with theoretical and practical knowledge regarding various aspects of foreign language teaching. Students at the end of their bachelor education have the opportunity to start teaching as apprentices at schools affiliated with the Ministry of National Education so that they can consolidate their knowledge and feel more confident of their teaching skills.

The Candidate should pass the Entrance Exam of Higher Education Council Student Selection and Placement Center.

A student is required to successfully complete the designated program of courses meet a minimum of 240 ECTS credit requirement and have a minimum GPA of 2.00/4.00. Program graduates who have successfully completed all the requirements fulfilled "Bachelor's Diploma in English Language Teaching" will receive the degree.
Assessment for each course is subject to its respective instructor's choice. On the other hand, the instructors essentially follow principles specified by Duzce University's Associate (Vocational Training)- Undergraduate Education Examination Guide (D. Ü.
