ABOUT THE PROGRAMME
The Department of Insurance and Social Security is a department whose aim is to train qualified and trained personnel in the areas of insurance and social security, which are increasing in popularity. Insurance is a modern way of distributing risk against potential risks in areas such as economic, commercial and professional activities, natural disasters, health and income security. Services in this area are becoming more diverse, new methods are being developed and institutional arrangements are being made. Insurance is one of the fastest growing sectors in the world. It is an area of expertise that intersects with fields such as economics, commerce, law, finance, mathematics. Those trained at the level of specialization will benefit from the employment opportunities provided by a specific field specialization. Social security is one of the most important problem areas of modern economies. It has become imperative to analyze social security issues such as demographics, changes in the labor market and problems of employment, elimination of poverty and prevention of exclusion, broader social policy, public balance and public intervention. The global economic crisis since 2008 has shown how social security is decisive in terms of economic policy.
The radical changes in the labor market necessitate the development of new solutions in social security areas. Therefore, graduating from a program at this undergraduate level will provide specific expertise. In this context, our department providing education in order to meet the required labor force, provides employment opportunities to its students in the fields of insurance and social security.In the department, besides basic level business, accounting, information technology and law courses, the following topics will be taught at the level of expertise: Insurance Operations and Types, Economics and Insurance, Financial Analysis, Insurance Accounting, Insurance Insurance Operations, Taxation, Risk Management, Retirement and Future Planning, Financial Accounts and Life Insurance, Variety of Insurance, Introduction to Social Security, Social Security Law, Social Security Systems, Social Security in EU, Current Problems of Social Security, Security Practices Control, Insurance Branches, Individual Pension, Work Health and Job Security, Enterprises
Insurance and Social Security department graduates can work in the accounting and finance departments of private and public institutions in banks, insurance institutions, SSI directorates. They are able to work in all enterprises where the social security specialist is required and in the institutions where insurance transactions are made or intermediaries.
To educate the individuals who will work in the field of social security and insurance and who will produce value, who are thinking about the future with a high quality service understanding and thinking openly, flexible and ethical frame for innovations.

Students who successfully complete the programme will be awarded an Bachelor's Degree in Insurance And Social Security.

[] Admission Requirements
The admission of students to the programmes is made according to the Student Selection and Placement Centre (OSYM – University entrance exam) within the framework set by the regulations of Higher Education Council (HEC). After students inform the Student Selection and Placement Centre about what programmes they want to study at, students are placed in the related programmes according to their scores they got from the exam.
Foreign students are admitted to the related programmes with the scores of internationally acceptable exams such as SAT, ACT or are admitted to the related programmes with their high school graduation grades (Undergraduate and Graduate Programmes for Foreign Students Admission Guidelines).
The admission of students of General Academic Exchange Protocol to the related programmes are done within the framework of the bilateral agreements (ERASMUS, FARABI, etc) signed between Duzce University and the partner universities. Guest students may enrol into the courses in this programme, if the related academic unit approves. Sufficient language knowledge is required to monitor the programme.
[] Course's Contrubution To Program
To complete the available courses in the program (a total of 240 ECTS) successfully, the students have to get at least 50 points out of 100 and required to achieve 2.50 on a 4.00 weighted grade point average. To graduate from the programs students should get at least DD in all of the courses provided.
[] Recognition of Prior Learning
Students enrolled in DU might be exempted from certain courses within the framework of certain regulations. A student can be exempted from a certain course provided related course content previously received from another institution complies with that of DU, which is subject to approval and verification by the Board of faculty/graduate school/school.
Recognition of Education Abroad
DU recognises academic terms and courses studied by a student that has been involved in an exchange programme for one or two terms at the universities with which a partnership was established.
Students that are selected to avail themselves of Student Mobility for Studies under ERASMUS are obliged to draw up an education agreement with relevant ERASMUS Unit Coordination prior to the mobility term. The education agreement demonstrates the courses to be studied at the partner university the student intends to go, as well as appropriate ECTS credits.
In addition to this, students shall be asked to issue a Recognition Sheet, which refers to the equivalent of foreign courses in DU, so that the credit transfer is planned and approved.
At the end of the exchange term, the courses studied abroad are recorded and demonstrated in the transcript, together with the original course codes and names and ECTS credits. Pursuant to ERASMUS Programme and Collaboration Agreements concluded thereunto, official transcripts will quote, an abbreviation signal of ET, European Transfer, for the courses studied abroad.

The Faculty of Business Administration is a 4 year department providing training in its own right. The department, which started education in the first grade directly without the requirement of preparatory class, educates the insurer, banker and social security person in the area.

[] Professional Profile of Graduates
Graduates can work in public institutions with KPSS points and they can work in private sector banks or insurance institutions as well as graduates can work independently by establishing their own workplaces.
[] The Upper Stage of a Transition
Part-time graduates may continue their education in the direction of their own wishes and conditions to carry out the acceptance conditions.
The Faculty of Business Administration is a 4 year department providing training in its own right. Students complete their basic business courses in their first year and continue their education with courses covering all subjects in the field of insurance and social security starting from 2 years. Lessons are divided into two groups, "mandatory" and "elective". A student who successfully completes all of the compulsory courses and 8 elective courses is entitled to graduate. Total number of lessons: 52 Total Credits: 152 Total ECTS: 240. Part-time students who are directly in the first year of education without the requirement of preparatory classes train insurers, bankers and social security experts on this field.

[] Graduation Requirements
In order to graduate from the Insurance and Social Security Department, the total number of national credits that students have to complete is 158. The amount of ECTS credits is determined as 240 for each semester. The duration of the department is 4 years. Midterm, homework, project, etc. during the 14 weeks course in each semester. Evaluation activities and final exams at the end of the semester. To qualify for graduation, students must: Courses in the curriculum must be successful from the beginning, be at least 2.50 level of AGNOs and have completed all other studies.
