Goals • Teaching basic information and skills about Turkish maqam music theoretically and prectically. • Teaching maqam music infromation and skills about hearing-reading-writing maqam music.
Course Content General information about maqam music. Tone system of Turkish maqam music. Touches and whole fourth and fifth. Transposition, maqam and scale conception, maqam components, simple maqam conception. Buselik, Rast, Uşşak, Bayati and Hüseyni maqams from simple maqams. 2–6 beats usuls. Transcription, solfege and flow exercises with studied maqams and usuls.
