Goals This lecture aims to teach data about the importance of nutrients and nutrition to the students.
Course Content Role of nutrition in health protection, introduction to nutrition, macro and micro nutrients. Protein, fat, carbohydrate, vitamin and mineral content / ratios of frequently consumed foods. Structure of carbohydrates, digestion and absorption of carbohydrates, metabolic pathways of carbohydrates. Structure of lipids, digestion and absorption of lipids, metabolic pathways of lipids. Structure of proteins, digestion and absorption of proteins, metabolic pathways of proteins. Importance of micronutrients in nutrition biochemistry Integration of metabolism. Factors affecting energy requirement metabolism in the case of fasting and satiety.
