Goals The aim of this course is to enable students to understand the fundamental concepts, principles, and processes of scientific research; and to acquire the skills to identify research problems, formulate objectives and hypotheses, select appropriate methods, plan data collection tools, analyze data using basic statistical techniques, and interpret results in the form of scientific reports in the fields of sports science and sports management.
Course Content The course covers fundamental concepts of science and scientific research, types of research, problem identification, statement of aims and hypotheses, population and sample, data collection techniques, measurement tools, validity and reliability, ethical principles, data organization, descriptive statistics, basic inferential statistics, hypothesis testing, data analysis with software packages, interpretation of findings, reporting, and bibliography organization.
