Goals The aim of this course is to examine the influence of social structure, culture, social institutions and social change on social relations.
Course Content Presentation of course content to the students, Sociological imagination, History of sociology (Enlightenment and sociology), First theoreticians in sociology (Durkheim and Comte), First theoreticians in sociology (Marx and Weber), Socialization and aging, Families and intimate relations, Gender Religion in modern societies, Education, Work and economic life, Cities and urbanizaiton

1 Assess the social events and facts in a general sociological point of view.
2 Explain the historical development of sociological thought.
3 Compare the general characteristics of traditional and modern sociological theories
4 Interpret the interrelationships between individuals, groups and society.
5 Interpret the impact of social institutions on individuls and groups behaviour.
6 Explains the general characterstics of sociological methods.
7 Develop multi-dimensional perspective on basic social institutions and relationship between them.
