Goals This course includes the introduction of the field of developmental psychology (history, topics), general theories and stage theories, research methods, biological foundations of development from pre-birth to death, sensory / perceptual, cognitive, emotional and social processes that reveal the changes observed in behaviours at certain stages of life and the effects of the environment such as culture, family, school, profession on the individual.
Course Content Developmental psychology, growth and development profiles, old age and death constitute the general content of this course.

1 Explains the historical process of developmental psychology; defines the most important processes, periods and topics in human development, explains the basic theories and research methods
2 Explains the basic views on cognitive changes that occur in childhood and summarises how language development takes place
3 Explain the impact of the socio-emotional environment (parents, friends) on the physical, cognitive and identity development of the individual and the social changes in the school system, parents and families
4 Defines the changing life styles of the individual with advancing age; explains the characteristics of career development, work, leisure time and retirement.
5 Discusses the factors that determine related / important decisions in different periods of development, attitudes towards decisions and psychological dimensions of ways of coping
