| Goals | The objective of this course is to provide graduate students with an in-depth understanding of qualitative research paradigms, designs, and data collection techniques. Additionally, it aims to enable students to analyze and report qualitative data (interviews, observations, documents) and comprehend validity-reliability (ethics and quality) criteria in qualitative research. |
| Course Content | The nature and philosophy of qualitative research; Post-positivist paradigms (Interpretive, Critical, Constructive); Qualitative research designs: Phenomenology, Grounded Theory, Case Study, Ethnography, and Narrative Research; Sampling strategies in qualitative research (Types of purposeful sampling); Data collection methods: In-depth interviewing, focus group interviews, participant and non-participant observation, document analysis; Qualitative data analysis process: Transcription, coding (open, axial, selective), theme development; Computer-assisted qualitative data analysis software (NVivo, MAXQDA, etc.); Trustworthiness in qualitative research (criteria used instead of validity and reliability); Reporting qualitative findings and ethical principles. |
