Goals The aim of this course is to teach the fundamental concepts and models of macroeconomics and enable students to analyze key macroeconomic issues such as national income determination, employment and unemployment, inflation and price stability, economic growth, and external balance/balance of payments.
Course Content The course covers the following topics starting from National Income: National income concepts (GDP/GNP, NNP, National Income) National income accounting methods (production, income, expenditure) Equilibrium output determination; aggregate demand and supply Inflation/deflation and price stability Employment and unemployment Economic growth Money, money supply/demand and monetary policy Fiscal policy and public sector Foreign trade, exchange rates and balance of payments
Learning Outcomes

1 Define and explain the fundamental concepts of macroeconomics (national income, inflation, unemployment, economic growth, and external balance). Distinguish national income concepts (GDP, GNP, NNP, National Income) and explain the relationships among them. Apply the methods of national income calculation (production, income, and expenditure approaches). Analyze equilibrium income within the framework of aggregate demand and aggregate supply. Interpret the relationship between consumption, saving, and investment, and explain the multiplier mechanism. Evaluate the types, causes, and economic effects of inflation. Explain different types of unemployment and interpret the concept of full employment. Analyze the measurement and determinants of economic growth. Explain fiscal and monetary policy instruments and compare their effects. Interpret the concepts of foreign trade, exchange rates, and the balance of payments.
