Goals Biotechnology is of critical importance in many industrial areas such as medicine, agriculture and food. Microorganisms are the most widely used living group in biotechnology due to their cheap and easy reproduction in a short time. For this reason, microorganisms are used in the production of antibiotics, interferon for cancer patients, insulin for diabetics, and yogurt and cheese in the food sector. The course aims to present topics such as microbial growth, microbial metabolism, secondary metabolite production with microorganisms related to microbial biotechnology, which can develop in many different areas of our lives.
Course Content Students; 1. Can understand microorganisms and their classification, 2. Comprehend the metabolism of microorganisms, 3. Examine the growth conditions and importance of microorganisms, 4. Comprehend which biotechnological metabolites can be produced by microorganisms and under which conditions, 5. Will be able to understand molecular biology techniques that can be used in microorganisms.
