1 Explain the main wood cell types and their functions.
2 Describe the anisotropic structure of wood and its relation to growth processes.
3 Interpret annual ring formation and the differences between earlywood and latewood.
4 Evaluate heartwood–sapwood formation, as well as pits, aspiration, and tylosis formation.
5 Interpret wood structure and growth conditions based on microscopic images and data.
