Goals The aim of this course is to enable the student to deepen their expertise in the field of Basic Islamic Sciences, to evaluate classical and contemporary sources through scholarly methods, to examine issues related to the field with an analytical and critical perspective, and to gain the competence required to conduct original academic research.
Course Content This course covers the classical and modern literature of Basic Islamic Sciences, fundamental concepts, methodological debates, interdisciplinary relations, current academic approaches, and selected issues related to the student’s field of specialization. Within the scope of the course, studies are conducted to improve source reading, text analysis, literature review, research topic selection, academic presentation, and scholarly research processes.

4. Week Classical sources, foundational texts, and research traditions used in Basic Islamic Sciences are examined. Research
5. Week Method, source usage, and the principles of scholarly approach in field research are emphasized. Research
6. Week Skills of reading, understanding, interpreting, and critically evaluating texts in Basic Islamic Sciences are developed. Research
7. Week The reassessment of classical literature in the field in light of current academic studies is discussed. Research
8. Week Interdisciplinary interaction in Basic Islamic Sciences and its relationship with the social sciences are discussed. Research
9. Week The main problems of the field and the prominent contemporary debates are analyzed. Research
10. Week The processes of determining a doctoral research topic, identifying a problem, and developing an original approach are addressed. Research
11. Week Academic writing, citation systems, bibliography preparation, and the principles of academic ethics are emphasized. Research
12. Week Students are guided to present selected texts and studies related to their areas of specialization. Research
13. Week Critical discussions are carried out through the presentations in terms of field knowledge, method, and interpretation. Research
