Goals This course aims to provide information about the lives, literary identities, and works of prominent novelists and short story writers in Turkish literature between 1923 and 1950, and to analyze selected literary texts by these authors.
Course Content -This course examines the relationship between changes in social life and the development of the novel and short story, exploring how literary genres are shaped by social transformations. It aims to equip students with the fundamental concepts used in the analysis of novels and short stories, while also addressing the reflections of Social Realism on these genres. In addition, the concept of the popular novel is introduced through selected sample texts. The course provides information about novelists and short story writers active between 1923 and 1950 and explains the thematic characteristics of the Turkish novel in the Republican Period. Furthermore, Turkish short stories of the same period are evaluated in terms of form and content. Finally, the course offers an overview of novel theories in the Republican Period, helping students gain a foundational understanding of literary theory.
