Goals This course aims to gain general information about folk tales from the basic fields of folk literature, to recognise the tradition of telling folk tales in minstrel style.
Course Content -General structure of Turkish folktales and historical origins of the minstrel-style (âşık) folktales. -Motif and thematic analyses of classic narratives such as Yusuf and Züleyha, Kerem and Aslı, and Tahir and Zühre. -The motif of drinking the "sacred wine" (bade) in dreams within minstrel tales and a general evaluation of the narratives.
