Goals It is aimed to understand the intellectual movements of the Second Constitutional Era (Islamism, Turkism, Westernism), the literary formations (Fecr-i Ati, National Literature, Neo-Hellenism, Nayî Movement), and to recognize the prominent writers and poets of the period. The objective is also to analyze the general characteristics of the Fecr-i Ati and National Literature movements, as well as the works of the authors associated with these movements.
Course Content The socio-cultural state of the early 20th-century Ottoman Empire, independent writers (H. Rahmi, A. Rasim), the Fecr-i Âti movement, and Ahmet Haşim’s art, poetics, and poem analyses. The Second Constitutional Era, the "New Language" movement, and pioneers of National Literature (Ziya Gökalp, Ali Canip, Ömer Seyfettin) along with an examination of their works. The lives, literary personalities, and analyses of iconic poems by Mehmet Akif Ersoy and Yahya Kemal Beyatlı (e.g., Independence March, The Silent Ship).
