Goals This course aims to gain general information about epics, one of the main areas of folk literature, to recognise the first epics, prominent epic texts and motifs.
Course Content -General overview of folk literature narrative genres and epics. -Motif and thematic analysis of early epics, including Gilgamesh, the Iliad, and the Odyssey. -General information on pre-Islamic and Islamic-era Turkish epics. -Motif and thematic analysis of the Oghuz Khagan, Satuk Bughra Khan, and Danişmend Gazi epics. -General information on Battalnamas and the motif and thematic analysis of these works.

2 Knows the basic epic texts from world literature.
3 Gains general information about epic motifs.
4 The first epics of Gilgamesh and Odyssey and Iliad, will have information about.
5 Have detailed information about Creation, Alp Er Tunga, Shu, Oghuz Khan, Ergenekon, Derivation and Migration epics, which are important epics of Turkish literature.
