Goals The fundamental design principles to be used in the design process are taught; basic design principles are demonstrated with the aim of enhancing creative ability, and the necessary skills are imparted to enable the application of these principles in practice.
Course Content The course covers design principles and elements, visual communication and perception in the visual arts, figure-ground relationships, space, form and geometry, the concept of space in architecture, design elements (line, direction, scale, texture, shape, colour, value) and design principles (harmony, contrast, rhythm, unity, dominance, balance); the processes of perception and comprehension in two- and three-dimensional compositions are examined.
