Goals The aim of this course is to provide students with fundamental knowledge about child and sport concepts, to develop theoretical understanding of youth training and training planning, and to equip students with essential knowledge regarding children’s developmental characteristics and talent identification processes.
Course Content This course covers the fundamental concepts of child and sport, children’s rights, and child protection approaches in sport. It includes principles of youth training, growth and maturation processes, physical and psychosocial development characteristics, talent identification and orientation in children, and the responsibilities of coaches in creating safe sport environments. Additionally, ethical principles in working with child athletes, potential risk factors in sport settings, and preventive child protection strategies are examined.
