Goals The aim of this course is to improve students’ knowledge of ethical values, professional principles, and responsibilities in the coaching profession; and to train individuals who can evaluate ethical issues that may arise in sports settings, adopt the understanding of fair play, and behave in accordance with ethical principles in their professional practices.
Course Content This course covers the concepts of ethics and morality, professional ethics, ethical principles, responsibilities and values in the coaching profession, the understanding of fair play, ethical dilemmas encountered in sports settings, athlete-coach relationships, coaches’ responsibilities toward athletes, families, administrators and other stakeholders, discrimination, violence, doping, abuse, confidentiality, and standards of professional conduct.
