Goals The aim of this course is to enable students to understand the existence, meaning, and importance of language as a grammatical concept; to raise awareness about the correct and effective use of Turkish according to grammatical rules; and to develop students’ oral and written communication skills.
Course Content The course content is designed to help students understand the fundamental concepts of language and the rules of Turkish. In the first weeks, the definition and functions of language and its relationship with culture are covered. Then, the historical development of Turkish and its place among world languages is discussed. In the middle weeks, phonetics, spelling and punctuation rules, and common expression mistakes are addressed. Afterwards, topics such as parts of speech, sentence structure, and paragraph composition are studied. In the final weeks, students develop their written and oral communication skills, and the course concludes with a general review and summary.
