Goals The main objective of this course is to provide basic information related to plant protection problems of ornamental plants.
Course Content • Understand general biology, anatomy, ecology, and behavior of insects. • Learn the most important diseases and disorders of ornamental plants and their causative agents. • Be able to perform insect and other pests sampling in parks, gardens and nurseries. • Learn which control strategies can be employed to prevent, control and manage the most important pests. • Distinguish the most important plant protection problems. • Assess the amount of damage caused by pests and related factors which promote that. • Able to propose which control strategies should be employed for preventing, controlling and managing of a certain plant protection problem. • Able to evaluate plant protection problems and choose suitable and effective pest control options. • Put in use knowledge/skill acquired during the course in work environment effectively
