Goals The objectives of this course is to teach students: how paper is produced. What are the raw materials utilized in paper production. Fiberous and non-fibrous additives utilized in produton and how they affect paper properteis. Mechanical, phisical and optical test metods to determine basic paper properties. Testing paper To give the student some insight into wood chemical composition with selected application to pulping and papermaking.

0 1.Describe the structure of wood fibers and non-fibrous additives utilized in papermaking their effects on final product. 2. Have knowledge of the theory and practice of various aspects of papermaking and become familiar with the basic mechanisms, operations and limitations involved. 3. Accomplish basic paper testing and evaluating the observed results. 4. Papermaking techniques, pulp and paper test methods. 5. Cooperate with fellow student/staff about carrying out and reporting of lab experiments. 6. Put in use knowledge/skill acquired during the course in work environment effectively.
