Goals The main objective of Wood Destroying Organisms is to provide a general understanding of the biyology, ecology, epidemiology, definition and management of insect pests and other pests.
Course Content After completing the course, the students will: Knowledge: • Understand general biology, morfology, ecology, and behavior of insects. • Understand the role that insects play in ecological dynamics and how they interact with other biotic and abiotic factors in the forest and wood. • Identify the most significant wood insect pests at family, genus or species level and recognize their damage. • Learn which control strategies can be employed to prevent, control and manage the most important wood pests. Skill • Distinguish the most important wood pests and their damage types. • Assess the amount of insect damage and related factors which promote that. • Propose which control strategies should be employed for preventing, controlling and managing of a certain pest.
