Goals The goal is to teach the students how to analyze the relationship of art to society with reference to contemporary theories of art and society.
Course Content The course aims to cover the changes in modern societies in the second half of the 20th and the beginning of the 21st century from a critical point of view. Subjects: The connections between consumer capitalism and culture industry; the new occupational, professional and life style patterns; the new social movements and politics of identity; post-structuralist, postmodern, deconstructionist and feminist theorists.
