Goals Toin vestigatethes ocial, economic, and political developments in Turkish history and their effects on education. To examine the princip al intellectual movements in Turkish education history and to develop an understanding of ther elationship between the present and the past in the history of Turkish education.
Course Content Importance of Turkish educational history in terms of education fact. Educational system and teacher training schools before Turkish Republic. Turkish educational revolution 1: Historical background of revolution, philosophical, intellectual and political bases. Turkish educational revolution 2: Unification of Education (Tevhid-i Tedrisat law), historical background, content, application and importance; laicism in Turkish educational system. Turkish educational revolution 3: Co educationand girls education, Alphabet revolution, Nationschools, Community centres, Basic principles of Republic of Turkey’s educational system, Suburb institutes, Education institutes and High Teacher Training Schools. Universities and teacher training, Developments in Turkish educational system recently.
