Goals The objective of this course is to examine human development from conception through the end of adolescence across physical, cognitive, emotional, and social dimensions. It aims to enable students to understand fundamental theoretical approaches (Psychoanalytic, Cognitive, Behavioral, Ecological, etc.), comprehend the interaction between heredity and environment, and scientifically evaluate developmental issues during childhood.
Course Content Definition, historical evolution, and basic principles of developmental psychology; longitudinal and cross-sectional methods in developmental research; theories of major figures such as Freud, Erikson, Piaget, and Vygotsky; genetic foundations and stages of prenatal development; the birth process and newborn reflexes; development of motor skills, language acquisition, memory, and thinking processes during infancy and childhood; attachment theories, self-development, types of play, and the biopsychosocial dynamics of the transition to adolescence.
