Goals The aim of this course is to equip students with conceptual knowledge on protecting, improving, and enhancing the mental health of older adults; to enable them to apply preventive, curative, and rehabilitative approaches to physical, social, and psychological problems; and to develop their coping skills.
Course Content Introduction to geriatric psychiatry; dementia and cognitive disorders; depression in older adults; personality disorders in older adults; psychotic disorders in older adults; anxiety disorders; somatoform disorders; sexual dysfunctions; alcohol and substance use disorders; sleep disorders; grief and grief-related conditions in older adults; suicide in older adults; forensic psychiatric issues in elderly individuals.
