| Goals | This course examines the social, cultural, and ideological dimensions of representation politics in cinema. Students analyze representations of gender, class, ethnicity, identity, migration, trauma, and cultural differences in cinema within the framework of visual culture theories and critically evaluate the aesthetic and political dimensions of representation. |
| Course Content | The course covers topics such as theories of representation, visual culture studies, identity and otherness in cinema, feminist film theory, postcolonial perspectives, queer cinema, ethnic representations, migration and diaspora cinema, and visual narratives of social trauma. Students are expected to conduct both theoretical readings and film analyses, actively participate in academic discussions, and develop original research projects. |
